The Gem Sconce emerged from a series of sketches designer Christopher Merchant created while wandering through the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Surrounded by lush greenery and striking greenhouse architecture, he found himself drawn to the geometric clarity of the glass structures. Those same sketches also resurfaced a cherished childhood memory: sunlight filtering through glass bricks at a pool. The Gem Sconce brings these inspirations together, turning both past and present into a faceted, light‑catching form.
